The Domestic RHI Tariffs for biomass boilers have now been confirmed as being degressed by 10% in January 2015, we have added some worked examples to the Rainbow Heat and Power website.
The Effecta range is Rainbow Heat and Power's domestic biomass boiler range and includes the Effecta Komplett III wood pellet boiler and the Effecta Lambda Log boiler. Both have been specifically designed with the domestic market in mind.
Effecta Komplett III
The Komplett III wood pellet boiler has a built in hot water tank so does not need an accumulator, which is ideal for domestic properties, where space may be limited.
Effecta Lambda
The Effecta Lambda log boiler can also run on wood pellets via an easy to fit attachment. This gives great flexibility, with the user being able to benefit from the cheapness of logs as well as the automation of wood pellets.
The examples range from 20kW to 45kW, the largest biomass boiler that the Domestic RHI will pay out for. As most domestic installations would run on wood pellets or logs, we have based our examples on these two main fuel types. The 20kW example is based on an EPC of 26,280kWh per annum, equivalent to a 3 bed room house of roughly 350m2. A biomass boiler heating system of this size would generate payments of £2,286 per annum, which adds up to £22,110 over 7 years and can give a payback on the capital cost of the of as little as 3 years!

The range of worked examples goes up to 45kW, the largest biomass boiler currently accepted by the Domestic RHI. This is equivalent to an EPC of 59,130 kWh or a 7 bedroom house or roughly 750m2.
A biomass boiler heating system of this size would generate payments of £6,492 per annum, which adds up to £49,748 over 7 years and can give a payback on the capital cost of the of as little as 3 years!
